Activities Volunteers

We are looking for hidden talents!

If you are a Star Baker, Sporting Super-Hero, the Craftiest Crafter, a secret Leonardo da Vinci, Britain's undiscovered Musical Genius, the Greenest Gardener, an Outdoor Adventurer or any other whizz please come and share your skills with Journey's Clients.

You can volunteer regularly or just occasionally.

Working Journeys Volunteer Mentors

We are looking for Volunteer Mentors from who can offer a couple of hours a month to talk to our Clients about their work and workplace.  If you can host a visit from Clients at your workplace, even better.

Only 3.4% of adults with learning disability in England has a job. This is the lowest of any disability group in the UK. They are the most overlooked adults, but they have skills and abilities.

By seeing what types of roles are available, understanding what tasks are needed and by talking to you about the skills they need, our Clients can take their first steps towards work.

Working Journey's is funded for three years by the Henry Smith Charity and TNL Community Foundation.  All Clients at Journey take part in our employability programme, learning work skills, providing services to their local community and enjoying work experience.

Minibus Drivers

Journey has a small fleet of minibuses. These are used to transport Clients to and from our Day Centres to home in the morning and mid-afternoon.

We have a small team of wonderful Drivers.  If you would like to be a Volunteer Driver regularly or occasionally please come and see us.

Company Volunteering

Journey works with both small local business and larger companies with sites in our region to develop Company Volunteering days.

Some companies enjoy providing Staff to help with a Project at one of our Day Centres for one day.

Other businesses like to have regular contact, helping with Projects or fundraising for equipment or the Charity's sites and services.

Companies also give paid time off for Volunteer Trustees.

Journey celebrates its partnerships on its website and social media, in the local press, in funder and Commissioner reporting and in our Trustees Annual Report & Accounts.
